About ESA

A European association built on education, preparation and cooperation

European Scholarships Association is a non-profit European association working across education, professional development and international programme cooperation.

Our approach

Based in Bologna, Italy, ESA brings together programmes, training organisations, academies and professional contributors with a shared purpose: to offer international participants meaningful preparation and learning experiences in Europe.

Preparation with continuity

ESA believes that international experience is worth more when it has been properly prepared, and when participants understand how each part of it leads to the next.

ESA Elite Global Pathway reflects this approach. Online preparation through ESA Elite leads into the European academy stage of ESA Global Pathway.

Coordinated programme cooperation

ESA develops and coordinates programmes for participants from many different backgrounds, connecting them with educational and professional experiences across Europe.

ESA works with training organisations, academies and professional contributors, keeping preparation, training, European experience and professional orientation connected.

Professional guidance within a European perspective

Education, professional development and informed orientation are treated as connected parts of the participant experience.

Independent professionals

Working with legal professionals

ESA works with a network of independent lawyers and legal professionals qualified to practise in their respective jurisdictions across Europe.

Their role is to provide professional legal orientation where relevant to a participant's circumstances and to help participants understand questions of documentation, professional planning and practical next steps.

This legal dimension is central to ESA's institutional approach.

European perspective

Learning in context

ESA programmes bring participants into direct contact with European educational and professional environments.

That includes training and the chance to become more familiar with professional culture, communication, collaboration, working practices and the expectations of international settings.

ESA aims to offer programmes that remain focused on preparation, learning, professional growth and informed next steps.
